Definition:  All Except USA~A connecting and/or articulating device having a cylindrical shank with a head at one and and a threaded portion at the other end. The unthreaded portion is of a specific grip length, plated or unplated, and is machined to a tolerance of one thousandth (0.001) of an inch (25 microns) or less, of a specific diameter for items one inch (25.4 mm) or less in diameter. Items over one inch (25.4 mm) in diameter, shall have a tolerance of fifteen ten-thousandths (0.0015) of an inch (38 microns) or less. The specific RMS microinch finish on the bearing surface must not exceed 32 microinches (0.8 micron). The nominal major diameter of the threads shall be at least one thousandth (0.001) of an Inch (25 microns) below the minimum shank diameter. The head is designed to accommodate an external wrench or driver and/or may have flats or similar features for positioning or securing. The item may be internally relieved with a concentric hole along the longitudinal centerline which may extend a part or whole of its length. Excludes: BOLT,CLOSE TOLERANCE; BOLT,SHEAR; BOLT,SHOULDER; and BOLT,INTERNALLY RELIEVED BODY.
