Definition:  An adapter which provides facilities for joining two or more fiber optic connectors, which design or functions will not normally warrant their junction. It is not designed for permanent attachment to a fiber optic cable. The physical shape of a fiber optic connector should not be the determining factor of its name. Tee, angle, straight, and Y-shaped adapters are all ADAPTER (3), CONNECTOR, FIBER OPTIC.
